How do you cancel Netflix?

  1. Sign in at netflix.com on a browser (the flow is cleanest on desktop).
  2. Open your Manage your membership page — your profile icon (top right) → Account.
  3. Click Cancel.
  4. Confirm with Finish Cancellation.

That's it. Netflix sends a confirmation email, and your plan stays active until the date your billing period ends. The same path works in the mobile app: My Netflix → menu → Account → Cancel membership → Finish Cancellation. Note that deleting the app or signing out does not stop billing — only finishing the cancellation does.

What if there's no Cancel button?

If there's no Cancel option in your account, you're billed through a third party — and Netflix can't cancel for you. Your account page will show who handles your payment (and usually a link to their cancellation page). You manage it where you signed up:

What happens to your profiles?

When you restart, your profiles, My List, viewing history, and payment details are all still there — Netflix's own words are "it's like you never canceled." That's convenient, but it's also why "I'll just cancel for a month" so often turns into resubscribing. If you want a clean break, that's fine too: you can delete your account information separately from your Netflix settings.

What does Netflix cost now if I come back?

Netflix raised prices across all U.S. tiers in March 2026, so the plan you left may be more expensive than you remember. Here's where the tiers stand:

PlanMonthly priceStreams at onceMax quality
Standard with adsabout $8.99/month21080p (Full HD)
Standard (ad-free)about $19.99/month21080p (Full HD)
Premiumabout $26.99/month44K (Ultra HD) + HDR
Netflix U.S. plans and monthly prices (as of June 2026)

If you're leaving because of price rather than the catalog, dropping to the ad-supported tier is the cheaper alternative to cancelling outright — you change plans on the same Account page instead of clicking Cancel.

If you do decide to come back later, you can restart from the same place you cancelled:

Frequently asked questions

How do I cancel Netflix?

Sign in at netflix.com, go to your Manage your membership page, click Cancel, then click Finish Cancellation. Netflix sends a confirmation email and your plan stays active until the end of the billing period you already paid for.

Will I get a refund if I cancel mid-month?

No. Netflix does not issue partial refunds. Because you keep access until the end of your current billing period, there is no reason to cancel early — you lose nothing by waiting until renewal day.

Why is there no Cancel button in my Netflix account?

You are billed through a third party. If you signed up via Apple, Google, Amazon, or a TV/cable partner, the Cancel option will not appear and you must cancel through that provider instead. Your Netflix account page shows who bills you.
