The Adobe cancel button is easy to find. The expensive part is the early-termination fee buried in the annual plan โ the practice that cost Adobe a $150 million FTC settlement in March 2026. This guide shows you which plan you are actually on, how to cancel, and how to get out without the penalty.
First, find out which plan you are on
This is the step that decides whether you owe anything. Adobe sells the same apps under three commitment types:
- Annual, paid monthly โ the default and the trap. Billed monthly, but you have agreed to a full year. Cancel after 14 days and the early-termination fee applies.
- Annual, prepaid โ paid up front for the year. No monthly fee to escape, but typically no refund after 14 days either.
- Month-to-month โ no commitment, cancel anytime with no fee. It costs more per month, which is exactly why Adobe steers you to the annual plan.
Check yours at account.adobe.com โ Plans. It will say which commitment you are on.
How do you cancel Adobe Creative Cloud?
- Sign in at account.adobe.com.
- Open Plans (or Manage plan).
- Select Cancel plan.
- Adobe walks you through reason screens and retention offers โ continue through them.
- Confirm. Adobe emails a cancellation confirmation and shows any fee before you finalize.
The early-termination fee, explained
If you cancel an annual plan after the first 14 days, Adobe charges 50% of the remaining balance of your contract. So if you are nine months into a twelve-month plan and leave, you pay half of the three months you have left. On a $54.99/month All Apps plan, that is roughly $82 to walk away three months early.
How to avoid the fee
You have a few legitimate ways out without paying the penalty:
- Use the 14-day window. Cancel within 14 days of signing up or renewing and you get a full refund, period. If you just auto-renewed, you have 14 days to undo it.
- Wait for the last month. In the final month of your annual term, the early-termination fee no longer applies โ cancel then and you simply do not renew.
- Switch instead of cancel. Adobe does not charge a fee to change plans. Downgrading to a cheaper plan (for example, the Photography plan at about $19.99/month) starts a fresh term with a new 14-day refund window and stops the bleeding without the penalty.
What Adobe plans cost in 2026
For reference, here is where the main plans stand โ useful if you are deciding whether to downgrade rather than leave:
| Plan | Price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Adobe Express Premium | about $9.99/month | Lightweight design, not the full apps |
| Photography (Lightroom + Photoshop, 1TB) | about $19.99/month | The value pick for most photographers |
| Single App | about $22.99/month | One app (e.g. Photoshop or Premiere) |
| Creative Cloud (All Apps) | about $54.99/month | The full suite |
| Creative Cloud Pro | about $69.99/month | All apps plus added AI and storage |
If the cost is the problem, downgrading to the Photography plan or month-to-month billing is often the smarter move than cancelling and losing your files and settings.
